The Dominica Dementia Foundation

Launched on the 2nd of September 2016 by Rianna Patterson, The Dominica Dementia Foundation aims to raise awareness of Dementia, provide emotional and financial support for families and caregivers and facilitate research on Dementia in Dominica.

The Foundation works with care homes helping to improve the health or people with dementia as well as ensuring they live with dementia with dignity and the best care possible in Dominica.

Rianna’s team also works with schools and health professionals promoting understanding about Dementia, as well as promoting the care, respect and protection of aging populations in Dominica. The Foundation have run a number of public sensitisation media campaigns about Dementia reaching some 4000 individuals through their awareness campaigns.

Rianna directed and produced a documentary promoting awareness and understanding about dementia, as well as celebrating and changing attitudes about people and communities living with dementia:
