The Scholarship was started by Siva and a group of friends in response to the tragic loss of a friend of theirs. After the death of their friend (whom the fund is named after), they fundraised and created the scholarship. Over the last 6 years this has grown into an award with a wider mandate to upskill more students in developing a growth mindset, understand their strengths and develop other skills that help them make the best of university and also their career trajectory beyond their studies.

The Scholarship is the ultimate prize but the process of engaging with the organisation does help more students grow and develop their skills, whether or not they win the award.
