Bounce Black is an online platform for young Black people who are navigating recovery from adversity while building a career. Bounce Black is a community of diverse yet likeminded people with lived experience of mental health struggles and trauma. They also welcome allies in people who do not have lived experience of these issues, but have the compassion to want to learn and be supportive towards those who do.

Black Bounce exists to do 4 key things:

  • To create a safe space for young Black people who are navigating building careers alongside recovery from adversity;
  • To foster a supportive and stretching community that centers and celebrates the people and achievements overlooked by narrow views of “Black Excellence”;
  • To make psychoeducation and related resources more widely accessible and culturally relevant to Black people;
  • To provide a platform from which to advocate for culturally competent trauma-informed services, systems and institutions.

“Joanne is an inspirational powerhouse of a woman, and I am honoured to have been connected with her. My session with her left me filled with hope, clarity, confidence and direction. I have already started acting on her insight and advice. I look forward to growing into the entrepreneur she is confident I can be!”
